Maasmechelen is een veelzijdige gemeente, gelegen in 't Oosten van België nabij Genk, Maastricht (NL) en Aken (D).
Tot eind jaren '80 werd er in deelgemeente Eisden steenkolen gewonnen. Tegenwoordig is de Mijnsite geëvolueerd naar een heuse toeristische trekpleister!
Maasmechelen is bereikbaar via de E314, afrit 33. (zie routebeschrijving in menu "Route Sky and Sand")
U kan ook per trein naar Genk Station reizen en aansluitend een bus of taxi naar Maasmechelen nemen (ca. 15 minuten per auto)
We hebben prachtige natuur met mooie wandelroutes (Connecterra, Terhills, Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen), een mooi fietsroute net: ontdek per fiets onze bossen, heide en Maasdorpjes. https://www.fietsnet.be

Maasmechelen is a versatile city, situated in the East of Belgium near Genk, Maastricht (NL) and Aachen (Germany).
'til the end of the '80s coal was mined in subcity Eisden. Nowadays the Mine site is a true touristic attraction!
Maasmechelen is accessible by freeway E314, Exit 33. (see travel directions in menu "Route Sky and Sand")
You can also travel by train to Genk Station and then take a buss or taxi to Maasmechelen (ca. 15 minutes by car)
